Sr. Project Director - Basel II Our client, major west coast banking institution, is seeking an accomplished and experienced Project Manager to lead their BASEL II implementation. The project manager will manage, both directly and through a matrix relationship, a large and will have multiple sub-projects running simultaneously to ensure a smooth execution of the bank's BASEL II Program.

 The Project Director will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the critical path to program completion
  • Working closely with Basel II subject matter experts and business unit leads to understand project progress, compile issues identified for escalation purposes, and obtain any other requests made from the Program Management Office (PMO) work-stream teams
  • Lead and direct the work of others within the Basel II PMO, including direct supervision of the Basel II PMO Support function. Provide purpose, direction and motivation to PMO support team and create/promote a positive, collaborative work environment for the team
  • Facilitate meetings on program status with the work-stream leads and provide updates to senior management
  • Set deadlines, ensure key program-wide roles and responsibilities are defined, and monitor and summarize progress of the program
  • Establish and maintain project communications, including clarifying, communicating project objectives, and success criteria
  • Develop/maintain processes to manage scope throughout the program and projects lifecycle
  • Oversee the development and tracking of integrated project plans
  • Manage the approval of new projects and changes in project scope
  • Monitor and report on the performance of existing projects
  • Recommend remedial steps where projects are off track
  • Adapt and apply a standard project lifecycle approach and execute overall project tracking/coordination
  • Set and oversee project quality and performance standards
  • Assess and manage risk over the project lifecycle

Requirements: 10-15 years of full life cycle project management experience with a major financial institution or management consultancy with a thorough understanding of project management tools and approaches to manage complex cross-functional projects, experience managing and delivering major mission critical projects and direct experience with Basel II and major risk management initiatives.
